Metamorphasis!

Sadie, Micah and I had a good time converting what was originally Micah's train table into a table for Sadie's animals to live on. Here Sadie is helping with the first coat of primer. The train table was rough and rustic, but we wanted the animals to have a nice lush place to live.

We started with two areas for water, so the animals can swim when they want to.

It's important while working hard, though, to take lots of breaks!

Next we added grass, starting with a background of forest green. Note how we taped the sides to avoid drippage. And, check out what used to be the "sheds" for the trains -- they will be ideal for animals to sleep in!

Now it really starts to take on some life. We sponge painted a cobalt blue on the light blue of the lakes, and a light sage on the forest green grass. After that dried well, we finished it with two coats of water-based protectant.

After it dried overnight, Sadie and Micah got right to work building a new habitat for some ponies.

It looks like they will fit right in!
